Labor Day Weekend Rendezvous at Deep River - Sept. 3 to 6, 2010

Our Labor Day Weekend will again be at Deep River Marina with a visit to the Goodspeed Opera House.

Elwin and Cheryl Schwartz will be coordinating Fleet 5’s 15th annual rendezvous at Deep River Marina (including the years we were rained out).

Hi all, all arrangements are set for the labor day weekend.

  • Brewers Deep River is expecting about 10 boats (+/-). Everyone who is bringing their boat needs to call and make their own arrangements.

  • The dock at Goodspeed is all set for 2 boats. Thom and Doug have the reservation form in case of any questions.

  • The Beer Garden at Gelston house has reservations for 25 people (+/-) for 12:00 noon.
  • The Ivory Restaurant is also expecting about 25 people for Sunday night at 7:00 PM.

  • Those going to see Carnival at Goodspeed on Sunday have to call and make their own reservations for seats. During intermission you can use the Green Room at the top of the stairs to get together, and have your drinks delivered there if you order them before the show. Just say that you are with the group that I as a member was invited to Goodspeed. There won't be a problem.

  • Saturday night will be a pot luck bar-b-q on shore at Brewers Deep River Marina, plan for a 5:30 starting.
  • Cheryl and I plan to be around Friday and Saturday. If the weather is fair we will sail up to Hamburg Cove on Friday and then home on Saturday but then drive to Brewers for the dinner.

That should cover the weekend.

The views along the river are worth the trip by themselves and September can be a really beautiful time on the river. We often have an evening mist on the river that lasts till dawn. The Essex Steam Train is a study in nostalgia with its tooting, hissing, huffing and puffing as it crosses the grade right by the entrance to the marina. Remember to keep the flashing green “35” light tower on the pile of rocks to your starboard as you enter the marina

Elwin and Cheryl Schwartz
